Lush - It's Raining Men Shower Gel and R&B Hair Cream Review

I've had these two products for more than a month now and figured I should probably review them :p. It's hard to keep up with the blogging sometimes, no?

I'm a big fan of Lush's products. I love that their products are fresh and mostly natural, that they're against animal testing, and they're one of the more ethical companies out there today. So when they announce new products, I get really excited and more often than not, pick one up for myself.

I've only ever tried 3 Lush shower gels before: Rub Rub Rub (lovely, floral scent, mild exfoliation, slightly drying), The Olive Branch (absolutely gorgeous scent, doesn't dry out my skin or impart more moisture), and It's Raining Men, which I like to call perfection in a bottle.

It's basically Honey, I Washed The Kids in shower gel form, so you can be sure it smells divine. When I started using it, we had just moved into the new house and I was dealing with some dry, rash-like bumps on my arms and I had a few itchy spots. Within a few days of using this product, not only were those bumps gone, but my skin was no longer dry. It balanced my skin and I was able to go without moisturizer for the first time since winter hit.

The only downside? It was a Limited Edition product that was released for Valentine's Day. I doubt you'll be able to purchase one at this point but if you spot one, don't hesitate to pick it up! It's an awesome product and I'm sure you'll love it.

At this point, you may ask: "why review it at all?" Well, in the blind hopes that maybe Lush's people will see this post. Lush, if you're reading this, PLEASE MAKE IT'S RAINING MEN PERMANENT!

If you have curly/wavy hair like me, then you know frizziness is something you have to battle with constantly. I've tried plenty of finishing creams in the past, mostly from the drugstore (John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Finishing Cream was a pretty good one. The Brilliant Brunette Satin Shine Finishing Creme wasn't that great but smelled uh-mazing!), but none tamed the frizz as well as Lush's R&B cream.

I first heard of R&B (Revive & Balance) on Makeup and Beauty Blog and since Karen has curly/wavy hair too, I thought I'd give this a try; especially since she seemed to love it. It has an interesting scent that I have a really hard time putting my finger on. It's definitely fruity and takes some getting used to, but I've grown to really love it!

The best part though, is that it works well without weighing my hair down (I enjoy my hair big :p). You don't need a lot of product at all and once I've applied it to my hair, concentrating on the ends, my hair looks healthier and shinier than ever!

The $18.95 CAD price does seem pricey at first glance. But you need very little per application and unless your hair reaches past your bum, I doubt you'll need to replace this soon after purchase. It also expires approximately 13 months after it's made so you'll be sure to get your use out of it.

Have you tried either of these products?

NOTD: Revlon - Tangerine

Yup, I'm on a Revlon nail polish kick lately. I was wearing Hazy a few days ago, I've been wearing Tangerine for a few days now (I posted Hazy a few days after I started wearing it).

Might I add that I'm changing the colour again later tonight for a performance tomorrow? I'll be posting that too. I've never changed nail colours this much in one week before, which is why I've started applying a base coat. Yes, you read that right, I've just started using a base coat. For shame!

Anyway, back to Tangerine. I used to really dislike orange until recently. I was so excited to put this one on because it's making me feel more prepared for the warmer weather. And as The Beatles say, "here comes the sun and it's all right." :)

Would you wear orange nail polish?

NOTD: Revlon - Hazy

Great formula, opacity in 2 coats, dries in minutes... In short, it's my kind of nail polish :)

What are you sporting on your nails, lovelies?

More gorgeous dresses to feast our eyes upon!

Asymmetrical lines, bright colours, fringes, cut outs... What's not to love?

It's very hard for me to pick favourites as I seriously love all of them, but the last 2 dresses in the last set are definitely show stoppers! And if you recall, that bright blue dress was seen on January Jones at this years Golden Globes, only she requested hers in a stunning red shade.

What are your picks, lovelies?

Call It Beauty's Question Sunday

This post in inspired by Charlotte's (a.k.a. Lipglossiping) Lipstick League Question of the Week.

Question: If you could wear one lip product for the rest of all time,
what would it be?

Funnily enough, this question isn't hard for me to answer at all. There's only one product in my bag that I've been using for years now and it's:

MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Fuchsia Fix

This product is of "holy grail" status for me... Or at least as close to holy grail as a product can get. I've been repurchasing it for many years now I've still yet to find a product that works better.

It moisturizes my lips perfectly and gives enough colour to make my lips look a little more polished. No matter what other lip product I apply during the day/night, I almost always resort to this eventually because I end up getting too lazy to upkeep the more, uh, laborious shades :p.

Leave your answers in the comments, lovelies :)

Collection Spotlight: Vera Wang - Spring 2011

Dresses, dresses, dresses! I've been really into dresses lately and these are just gorgeous!

I love all the sheer fabrics, which looks interesting with those boots. But my favourites are definitely the silk, printed dresses (dress 4, set 1 & dresses 3/4, set 3). The prints are gorgeous, the silhouettes would suit someone with my body shape.

Actually, I'd have to add the off-shoulder dresses (dress 2, set 1 & dress 1, set 3) to the favourites list as well. Ah, heck! Let's just add them all, shall we? :p

Have a fab weekend, lovelies!

Collection Spotlight: Dolce & Gabbana - Spring 2011

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! There are no words...

I lied, there are words, and those words are: beautiful, romantic, feminine, sexy, lace.

I love all the silver embellishments in the last 2 sets, I love the super cute rompers, I love the delicate LWDs. I love that the black pieces juxtaposed in the collection look absolutely sexy but you know if they were white, they would be completely sweet and virginal.

Well... Except maybe for the corsets and leather :p.

L'oréal Voluminous Million Lashes, You Let Me Down!

When you have such sparse lashes like me, you probably reach for volumizing mascaras more often than not. Now I'm not usually one to fall for makeup advertisements, especially not mascara ones (I happen to think they're all pretty ridiculous), but I did see some pretty good reviews of this product online and YouTube so I felt comfortable enough to make a purchase. Especially since it was on promotion for around $6.00 CAD (pre HST).

I have to say, I'm glad I didn't spend that much on it because it's kind of a dud.

First of all, the brush... There's nothing wrong with it, actually, I just don't like it. I find that plastic-y brushes like these tend to irritate my eyelid too much.

Secondly... Actually, let's just show you a picture:

HOOOOT MEEEESSSS!!!

This was the first time I ever used it and I'm sure you can imagine how disappointed I was. I decided to give it another try a few weeks later and it wasn't so bad...

Much better, no?

It does have its good points. I like that the product doesn't migrate anywhere. It doesn't claim to be waterproof, but it still sticks around quite well. It also adds a good amount of volume; however, it doesn't hold the curl at all, which is not ok with me.

Bottom line is, with the irritation I get from the brush and the lackluster results, I say just go with the regular L'oréal Voluminous. It is a MUCH better mascara all in all and is probably a lot cheaper, too. Don't let the fancy, gold tube fool you. L'oréal Voluminous may not look impressive, but it works fabulously!

Have you tried L'oréal Voluminous Million Lashes?
If so, do you like it?
