Style Crush - Amanda Seyfried

Why so gorgeous, Amanda Seyfried?

More often than not, you will see Ms. Seyfried in short hemlines (I would, too, if I had legs like hers) but I love how she keeps it classy. The dresses I see her in are always gorgeous, but age appropriate. also, whether or not it was her stylist's idea or hers, the choice to wear that purple and grey dress (last photo, first set) was brilliant. Oh and that very last dress? The one that's watercolor-like? I.WANT.

And can we talk about her hair? It always looks amazingly healthy and I love that she can be pretty adventurous with styles (much like our previous Style Crush).

I've recently replenished my bath product stash.

Now, I'm sure it's no surprise to any of you that I'm a big fan of Lush, but I do want to "broaden my horizons." So to you lovelies, I pose this question:

What bath products should Call It Beauty try?

Style Crush - Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams isn't just a style crush, she's also a talent crush. She's such an amazing actress and I love how diverse her work has been over the years.

The same holds true for her personal style, I think. She can easily look edgy, sweet, glamorous, or sexy and she carries it off so effortlessly.

I also love how adventurous she is with her hair. She's rocked blonde, brunette, red(ish), and even pink hair!

Amazing talent, gorgeous woman...

Happy Sunday, lovelies =)

Collection Spotlight: Monique Lhuillier - Resort 2011

(photos from style.com)

Ugh...

Gorgeous, just... GORGEOUS!

I love that there are pieces that are quite simple and yet, still utterly sexy. The navy blue dress in the 3rd set is a perfect example of this.

I love all the ruffles and the sequins, the metallics and the LBD's... Oh, and those high-waisted, wide-legged trousers are just lovely. I want a pair!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Style Crush - Clémence Poésy (And A Bit Of A Hiatus)

Now here is a woman who surprised me. Clémence always struck me as a total girly-girl (probably because I've only ever seen her as Fleur Delacour :p) but she really rocks more masculine looks; typically skinny jeans, a flowy tank, a jacket, and a pair of biker boots.

Whether channeling a more masculine or feminine vibe, Clémence always looks fabulous. I especially love how tousled her hair always looks. It's something I try to achieve, but my hair is too thick.

In Other News
As I've mentioned in previous posts (I think :p), the fam is currently in the process of moving house. And what a process it is! I'm so over it and we're not even done. But thankfully, we'll be in the new house tomorrow. However, our internet won't be connected until early March, which means no blogging for me. I want to thank my faithful readers for being so patient with me throughout these past few months as I've been super busy with many things and haven't been able to give Call It Beauty the attention I would like to give it. Hopefully it won't be much longer until I can resume all the posts I've prepared beforehand.

Anyway, hope you're all well and a big HELLO! to all the new followers :).

Have an awesome day, lovelies!

2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards - Hits & Misses

Did you catch the SAG awards? Overall, it was a bit underwhelming, but there were still some pretty outstanding dresses on the red carpet. Here are my hits and misses.

BEAUTY MISSES

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Natalie Portman: Fabulous makeup, but the flat hair just takes away from the entire look.

- Angie Harmon: Again, it's the hair that ruins the look. Whoever coloured her hair clearly didn't choose the right shade. Her roots really stick out like a sore thumb.

- Paz de la Huerta: Matching your makeup to your clothing is hardly new, nor is it always a hit. This particular shade doesn't do her any justice and she could've used some liner on the upper lash line.

- Eva Longoria: Oh, Eva. Please get your makeup artist to blend your foundation better.

- Naya Rivera: Suffering from the Eva Longoria curse. Her foundation is much too light and her hair looks like a mess. Perhaps she was going for a tousled look, but I feel she missed the mark.

BEAUTY HITS

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Mariska Hargitay: Her skin looks absolutely beautiful! I love the mauvey lipstick, as well.

- January Jones: This is what Natalie Portman's hair could have been.
Love the old Hollywood vibe, it definitely suits her well.

- Jane Lynch: Proves shimmery eyeshadow isn't just for younger women.
I also love her false lashes, they're so gorgeous and fluttery.

- Christina Hendricks: Absolutely gorgeous smoky eye! Her hair looks a bit darker than last I saw her, which was at the Golden Globe awards. I have to say, I prefer this auburn shade more.

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Jennifer Lawrence: Love the winged out eyeshadow! A bit of a risk since this look would be more suited for the likes of the MTV awards, but she pulls them off well.

- Dianna Agron: She doesn't typically wear such heavy eye makeup, so I was a bit taken aback when I first saw the photo. But the more I looked at it, the more I loved it. Choosing a soft brown / taupe
eyeshadow is a good way to soften the look a tad.

- Mila Kunis: Mila's makeup is always on point! I love the navy eyeliner, it defines her eyes beautifully but without the harshness of a black eyeliner.

- Amber Riley: Straight, glossy hair, blunt bangs and magenta lips...
This was definitely my favourite beauty look of the night!

FASHION MISSES

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Dianna Agron: This Chanel dress is lovely and romantic, a look Dianna Agron always goes for on the red carpet. However, I feel it was a bit ill fitting for her. This dress would look better on someone curvier, I think.

- Christina Hendricks: The opposite situation from Dianna. Actually, if they had swapped dresses, it might've worked better. This L'Wren Scott dress, while gorgeous, does nothing for Christina's lovely curves.

- Nicole Kidman: Again, I don't feel like this Nina Ricci dress is doing anything for Nicole's body. It doesn't give her any shape and and the necklace makes the neckline much too busy.

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Kate Mara: This Hervé Leger dress is beautiful and it fits Kate wonderfully. However, I think that the colour washes her out too much and that headband is just awful. Plus, she looks completely uncomfortable.

- Naya Rivera: This Aurelio Costarella dress is a bit too lingerie for me.

- Jenna Fischer: Love the colour, but the design and fit makes her look too frumpy.

FASHION HITS

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Jayma Mays: Love this Jenny Packham dress. The vintage vibe, the peach / blush shade, the shoulder detailing
are all beautiful.

- Hailee Steinfeld: This Prada dress is gorgeous, a lot of fun, and totally age appropriate for 14-year-old Hailee.

- Jenna Ushkowitz: This Badgley Mischka beauty looks fantastic on Jenna! The nude shade compliments her slight tan, love the gathering on the bust, and ruffles on the skirt create just enough detailing
to make the dress more interesting.

- Eva Longoria: Eva was really channeling the Grecian goddesses in this beautiful Georges Hobeika dress. I've always been a fan of this style.

- Rosario Dawson: She really brought some sunshine to the red carpet. This pale yellow dress by J. Mendel is absolutely gorgeous and was a breath of fresh air on Sunday.

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Natalie Portman: Showing the world you that pregnant women can still be glamorous in this icey white Azzaro dress. I can't wait to see what else she'll be wearing for the rest of the awards season.

- Sofia Vergara: How impossibly tiny is this woman's waist? I can't even... I absolutely love the gorgeous blue shade of this Roberto Cavalli dress.

- Annette Bening: I cannot believe she's 52 years old. Her body is out of this world! Love the gold shade, love the draping, and love the neckline.

- Tina Fey: I don't recall ever seeing Tina Fey in red, but I'm loving this! The flowery detailing on this Oscar de la Renta dress is just beautiful.

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Lea Michele: This Oscar de la Renta dress is just perfect. It fits Lea's petite frame beautifully and thin, gold belt compliments the silvery-white dress wonderfully.

- Amber Riley: Helloooo glamour! Amber Riley's really stepped up her fashion game and this Anne Barge dress does her fabulousness justice. One shoulder, sweetheart neckline, flowery detailing on the skirt = absolutely gorgeous. The ruching on the bodice and the mermaid silhouette really compliments her curvacious frame.

- Heather Morris: Heather, like Amber, is really wowing me on the red carpet lately. This nude Romona Keveza dress has such a gorgeous bodice. I see some sequins and feathers, among other things. Always a plus in my book!

- Hilary Swank: First, let us all admire Hilary's amazing arms... Anyway, nude was big at the Golden Globes and as you can see, it's still well represented at the SAG awards. This Versace dress is has some gorgeous details - ruching, layering, and the neckline is fab!

BEST DRESSED

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Claire Danes: The print on this lovely Louis Vuitton dress is so gorgeous. Love the addition of the belt as well.

- Mila Kunis: Another belted, printed dress; this time by Alexander McQueen.
The fiery red colour is absolutely fierce.

- January Jones: This Carolina Herrera dress is just stunning. The black and gold lace combo is so high-glamour.
I love it!

- Jennifer Lawrence: Hot pink! Love, love, love the colour! And the strap action going on around the shoulders are lovely. Love the black bow as well. Oscar de la Renta did well on this red carpet!

- Julia Stiles: *sigh.* This Monique Lhuillier dress just inspired nothing but longing sighs. The ombre effect is just so beautiful! It's a simple design, but the fabric definitely brings the house down!
My absolute favourite of the night, for sure.

Any favourites from the SAG awards?

Collection Spotlight: Gucci - Resort 2011

(photos from style.com)

According to Style.com this collections theme was "stylish travel." Not hard to understand why, is it? Considering how much I love to travel and how badly I want to travel again, it was no surprise that this collection really resonated with me.

First of all, the outerwear is just gorgeous! I want them all, especially the super chic printed one in the second set. I've been loving all the slim trousers showing up in collections lately so I'm definitely still on board that trend. The rust coloured one in the last set is really lovely.

My favourite pieces are the dress on the last set (champagne = love) and the aviator style jumpsuit in the gorgeous olive colour. And can I say how much I'm coveting the white bag with the tan handles in the second set? Well... I am... Coveting it, I mean. It's the perfect size for plane rides. I'm sure that can handle all our beauty products, no?

Would you travel in any of these Gucci pieces?

2011 Golden Globes Awards - Hits & Misses

Who else caught the Golden Globes last night? I personally didn't watch the awards show but I definitely was on the ball when it came to the red carpet. Anyway, without further ado, here are my hits and misses (note: click on the photo for a larger view).

BEAUTY MISSES

(first photo from LIFE, others from bellasugar)

left to right:

- Carrie Underwood: Gorgeous look, but her foundation makes her look much too pasty.

- Eva Longoria: Like Carrie, her foundation is much too light (nothing new for Eva, though).
Plus, I'm not a fan of the uber-nude lip.

- Emma Stone: I will never be a fan of orange skin. I'm not sure if it's the combination of her peach dress and her newly blonde hair or if she really did apply the self-tanner a little too liberally,
but the orange was definitely visible.

- Helena Bonham Carter: Makeup is quite gorgeous, but that hair... Oh, that hair...

BEAUTY HITS

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Mila Kunis: Flawless skin, long fluttery lashes, warm apricot on the lips & cheeks... One word: gorgeous.

- Julianne Hough: What an amazing sun kissed glow! But the standout is the coppery colour lined around her eyes, it really makes her beautiful blue eyes pop.

- Jenna Ushkowitz: Loving the soft, grey smoky eye and her voluminous hair.

(photos from bellasugar)

left to right:

- Olivia Wilde: Subtle, yet gorgeous cat-eye and soft nude lip really compliment the rest of her look; plus, I'm really loving this fringe on her.

- Scarlett Johansson: Scarlett always looks so classy. Love the updo and the soft pink lips.

- Christina Hendricks: All this pinks & reds should clash, but I find it doesn't. The pink flush of her cheeks matched with the soft, red stain of her lips are especially pretty.

- Natalie Portman: Pregnancy suits her, that's for sure! She's definitely got that inner-glow and her berry stained lips compliment her blush perfectly.

- Michelle Williams: Pretty in peach and rockin the pixie cut. So lovely.

(photos from bellasugar)

left to right:

- Halle Berry: Classic smoky eye and a nude lip that I can get appreciate.

- Dianna Agron: She has such a gorgeous, girl-next-door face. Looking lovely, as usual, but it's the pinky-brown lip colour that makes the look quite grown-up.

- Jennifer Lawrence: Another sun-kissed beauty. The hint of shimmer in her lips makes the look much fresher, perfect for a young actress like her.

- Megan Fox: I really love a smoky eye on Megan, her eyes look so much bluer. She's sporting some shimmer on her lips as well, much like, Jennifer; though Megan's is much more subtle. But the show stopper in this whole look is definitely her brows, I love how full and natural they are.
P.S. Megan, please gain some weight.

- Leighton Meester: As Benefit would say, "her name was Glowla."
I'm seriously lemming for whatever was used on her cheeks. Anyone know?

FASHION MISSES

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Diane Warren: The blazer is fierce, but the button up and the slacks are a bit sloppy for an awards show. This Stella McCartney number would've been more appropriate for dinner out with friends or possibly a concert.

- Hope Davis: The colour is absolutely gorgeous but I'm not feeling the two-sided detailing.

- Helena Bonham Carter: I understand that some people have a really quirky sense of style and I can definitely appreciate it. I love the style and fit of this Vivienne Westwood dress because it really accentuates Helena's lovely curves. But the fabric is too all over the place for me and the mismatched shoes... Well, I just don't understand it.

- Julianne Moore: It's no secret that Julianne loves Lanvin. The colour is gorgeous and the sleeve could've worked for me were it not for whatever is going on around the neckline area.

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Michelle Williams: Neither the colour nor the shape of this Valentino dress do anything for Michelle Williams. In fact, it makes her look a bit frumpy. Also, the daisy print might be more suited for her daughter's bedroom. Such a shame because she's been on such a fashion roll with her Blue Valentine appearances.

- Julianna Marguiles: Oh goodness. One word: droopy. The colours wash her out, too.

- Halle Berry: This Nina Ricci number looks like shapewear with some bits of fabric hanging from the waist. Granted, she looks fantastic, but I don't think it's appropriate for the Golden Globes.

- Heidi Klum: This could've worked. Except all the extra fabric bunching around the waist of this Marc Jacobs number makes the whole outfit look sloppy.

FASHION HITS

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Natalie Portman: The empire waist of this baby pink Viktor & Rolf dress really flatters her mommy-to-be figure. The red floral accent is also really sweet.

- Christina Aguilera: Holy curves, Batman! Christina separated herself from the rest of the nude crowd by picking a Zuhair Murad gown that incorporated black lace as well. Absolutely stunning!

- Nicole Kidman: This sparkly Prada dress really accentuates Nicole's statuesque frame.
And how adorable is that bow?

- Leighton Meester: Burberry Prorsum looks good on Leighton. Love the Victorian vibe and the thigh high slit. Not to mention, the shoes are fierce!

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Heather Morris: Looking super classy in a sparkly, nude dress. Love the clutch, too!

- Kyra Sedgwick: I'm reminded of Michelle Williams at the 2006 Oscars. Kyra definitely stood out from the crowd in this mustard yellow dress. Very boho, absolutely lovely.

- Emma Stone: Easily the simplest dress at the Globes and yet it's one of the most striking. The clean silhouette coupled with the gorgeous peach shade really make this Calvin Klein dress a standout.

- Julie Bowen: The detailing in this Tadashi Shoji dress is so, unbelievably gorgeous.

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Megan Fox: I absolutely adore the weaving detailing in this Giorgio Armani Privé dress.

- Claire Danes: If the simplicity looks familiar and you guess Calvin Klein, you would be right. Gorgeous colour, perfect fit, beautiful altogether.

- Christina Hendricks: Red on red should clash, but it doesn't. Christina Hendricks works it all with such class and talk about curvaceous! She really fits this Romona Keveza dress well. Shoulder detailing is fab, too!

- Hailee Steinfeld: This Prabal Gurung piece is the perfect dress for a young up-and-comer in her debut. Age appropriate but not boring; she looks stunning!

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Shaun Robinson: The Access Hollywood host rocked her one-shouldered, sequined dress!

- Kaley Cuoco: Soft, romantic, airy; this Catherine Kidd dress is the epitome of pretty.

- Julia Stiles: Oh, it's nice to see Ms. Stiles on the red carpet again! I love this Romona Keveza gown on her. The mermaid silhouette is especially flattering. It's dramatic, which is perfect for the Golden Globes.

- Dianna Agron: J. Mendel's dress does Dianna justice. Or is it the other way around? Love how champagne looks on her, love the silhouette, love the slight shimmer. Oh, and love the clutch, too!

MY PERSONAL FAVES

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Sandra Bullock: Looking absolutely gorgeous in this classic Jenny Packham dress.
And how fierce is her new fringe? I personally love it!

- Jennifer Lopez: Some might not like the sheer cape of this Zuhair Murad number, but that's what makes the outfit for me. JLo looks positively ethereal.

- Amber Riley: This Oliver Tolentino dress is so fierce! It's the only way to go when you're as fierce as Ms. Riley. Love the one-shoulder detail and the black belt really accentuates her waist. She proves that just because you're not a size 2, doesn't mean you have to shy away from figure hugging silhouettes.

- Angelina Jolie: She doesn't normally wear colours, but when she does, people take notice. And it's no wonder; this emerald green Versace dress is divine in all its sparkly, long-sleeved glory!
And doesn't she look like she just stepped out of Dynasty a bit?

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- Mila Kunis: Mila has been looking especially beautiful lately and the Globes was no different. Her Vera Wang dress looks like it was poured over her and the gorgeous green shade really compliments her olive skintone. Of course, I also love the knot detail on the shoulder.

- Kelly Osbourne: Boy, has Kelly been stepping up her fashion game, or what? Again, one-shoulder = love. But what really makes this gown is the nude/grey pattern that goes from the side of her torso to the front of the dress. Very architectural, I love it!

- Catherine Zeta-Jones: Love the colour (there were 4 emerald green gowns on the red carpet), love the textured fabric, and love the sweetheart neckline of this Monique Lhuillier gown.
Her chandelier earrings are gorgeous, as well.

BEST DRESSED

(photos from LIFE)

left to right:

- January Jones: This dress was seen in Versace's Spring 2011 runway show. Originally in sky blue, January Jones requested it to be made in this stunning red colour; a good move on her part. The best part about this dress is undoubtedly the fringe.

- Mandy Moore: This Monique Lhuillier gown is absolutely gorgeous. The colour alone is stunning but the mermaid silhouette and the airiness of the tulle skirt really makes it that much more beautiful.

- Scarlett Johansson: Another throwback for me, this Elie Saab gown reminds me of one of my all time favourite dresses, a champagne Versace gown donned by Kate Hudson at the 2003 Academy Awards. I'm just a sucker for a nude dress with sparkly detailing! Also the fluttery sleeves are just lovely.

- Anne Hathaway: I must say, this is a bit of a departure for Anne. We normally see her looking classy and elegant but I've never seen her look this vixen-like ever... And I love it. Long sleeves, sequins, padded shoulders; all fantastic details. But the best part about this Armani Privé dress? It's completely backless.

- Olivia Wilde: This Marchesa gown definitely takes the cake for me. I mean, what's not to love? The ball gown silhouette makes Olivia look like a princess (isn't she one, technically? :p) and the nude to black gradient is stunning. Same with the "lots of sequins" to "less sequins" gradient. Wow, I'm really getting technical with my terms :p. No matter, this dress speaks for itself and will probably be one of the best dresses of 2011.

Who are your picks for the best dressed stars
at the Golden Globes?

Style Crush - Emma Watson

I really love how Emma Watson's style has evolved over the years. People all over the world have literally watched her grow up and yet she did it with such poise and class.

Lately I've been really looking forward to HP releases; not just because I love the films, but because I'm really eager to see what Emma Watson will show up in.

And on another note, she literally encompasses the term "beauty and brains." It's great for the future generation to have someone like her to look up to and not just various "reality stars." Look, ladies! You can be successful and not have to take your clothes off! Imagine that...

Do you like Emma Watson's style?

Style Crush - Leighton Meester

We all know Leighton Meester gets to wear the most fabulous outfits on Gossip Girl. But it's actually her  real life style that catches my eye. Always on trend, but never blatantly so; Always feminine, but never too precious.

What I also love about Leighton is that she changes up her makeup looks just as much as she changes her fashion style. Her face can handle heavy makeup (dark eyes and red lips), but it can also be left bare and still look gorgeous.

And don't even get me started on her hair...

Have a fab weekend, lovelies!
