Collection Spotlight: Giambattista Valli - Spring 2011

(photos from style.com)

Giambattista Valli's resort collection made me think of a Safari and Spring 2011's gorgeous Roman-esque dresses remind me of... Well, what else? As if I haven't been bitten hard by the travel bug, already :p.

Call It Beauty's favourites are: Dress 1, Set 1 - love the shot of tangerine with the sheer draping along the shoulders. Dress 2, Set 2 - what a lovely LWD. Love the sheer sleeves and the subtle pattern on the skirt.   Everything in Set 5 - Love the prints, the textures, the mix of yellows... But my absolute favourite? The mustard yellow/nude gown; what a stunner!

Any favourites from this collection?

Collection Spotlight: Giambattista Valli - Resort 2011

(photos from style.com)

One of my absolute favourite collections of last season was by Giambattista Valli and to be honest, I've never really paid attention to his work prior. Well, I definitely took notice and have been eagerly anticipating his next collection, which doesn't disappoint either.

To me, Valli's dresses are never typical. There is always something interesting that catches your eye, whether it's the draping, ruffles, bows, prints, colours, what have you.

Call It Beauty loves: the vintage vibe of the dresses in set 1/photo 3 and set 3/photo 2, the bubblegum pink that was also featured in last season's collection, the animal prints (I definitely need more of it in my wardrobe), and the beauty & elegance of the gowns in the last set (I can't wait to see it on the red carpet).

Collection Spotlight: Giambattista Valli - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

My second favourite collection out of all those I featured on Collection Spotlight (you'll see my absolute favourite on Tuesday).

I love the 60s silhouettes, the textured embellishments (ribbons? feathers? who knows? who cares?), the sheer fabrics...

That coat in the first set is so utterly gorgeous, I'd probably wear it every single day (that is, if I could afford to own it in the first place). We've all seen nudes in practically every collection this Fall but paired with gray and the 60s silhouette, it's just so much fun (neutrals can be fun, too!) and unique.

I also adore the use of bubblegum pink in the fourth set. If the second photo looks familiar to you, the beautiful Jessica Biel wore it to the MTV Movie Awards this year. The third photo (along with the second) is one of my favourites of the collection; doesn't the skirt remind you of fondant?

As for the evening dresses (last set), I love the sheerness, the draping, and the unique details (the pieces around the neck, the checkerboard style design). The lapels on the navy blazer are so sexy and i love the way the fabric is ribboned around to cinch the waist, it's absolutely adorable!

Are you a fan of 60s style dresses?
