Collection Spotlight: Giambattista Valli - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

My second favourite collection out of all those I featured on Collection Spotlight (you'll see my absolute favourite on Tuesday).

I love the 60s silhouettes, the textured embellishments (ribbons? feathers? who knows? who cares?), the sheer fabrics...

That coat in the first set is so utterly gorgeous, I'd probably wear it every single day (that is, if I could afford to own it in the first place). We've all seen nudes in practically every collection this Fall but paired with gray and the 60s silhouette, it's just so much fun (neutrals can be fun, too!) and unique.

I also adore the use of bubblegum pink in the fourth set. If the second photo looks familiar to you, the beautiful Jessica Biel wore it to the MTV Movie Awards this year. The third photo (along with the second) is one of my favourites of the collection; doesn't the skirt remind you of fondant?

As for the evening dresses (last set), I love the sheerness, the draping, and the unique details (the pieces around the neck, the checkerboard style design). The lapels on the navy blazer are so sexy and i love the way the fabric is ribboned around to cinch the waist, it's absolutely adorable!

Collection Spotlight: Emanuel Ungaro - Fall 2010

(photos from style.com)

I know a lot of people were doubly interested in what the Ungaro Fall line was going to look like after the supposed hot mess that was the Spring line (most of you may have heard of it because of Lindsay Lohan's turn as "artistic adviser").

After being panned by critics, I'm sure designer Estrella Archs felt some pressure when creating this line.  However, I think that this collection deserves some praise. The shots of colour and patterns are absolutely fun and I especially love the strapless jumpsuit (perfect for turning heads).

There's your standard menswear pieces we've seen in almost every Fall line: the cropped trousers and blazers/jackets; but of course, pairing them with decidedly feminine pieces keeps it from looking too masculine.

I'm also absolutely in love with the draping on the sleeves of the emerald green dress (set 4); and paired with those gorgeous pink, open-toed heels? If I may quote the fabulous Galinda, "pink goes good with green!"

Happy Tuesday, lovelies!

Collection Spotlight: Dolce & Gabbana - Fall 2010

(photos from style.com)

Sexy.

If there was one word to describe this collection, it's "sexy." From the sheer fabrics to the lace to the heaviness of the velvet dresses, this collection reads as boudoir to me and I absolutely adore it.

It's Parisian, it's sensual, it's gorgeous.

Which outfit would you claim as yours?

Collection Spotlight: Dsquared2 - Fall 2010

(all photos from: nymag)

If James bond got it on with a dominatrix (entirely possible considering James Bond's propensity to bed women) and that particular "relation" resulted in a daughter, I would imagine she would dress like this. How's that for a description?

This collection is not subtle in any way, shape or form. This collection is for the vixen. It's for the woman who wants to turn heads when she walks into a room or down a street. This is for the woman who commands attention.

My personal favourites are the last two pieces of the 5th set. The use of leather is undeniably sexy but so is the way the fabric just hugs the models figures. The necklines are interesting as well and the I absolutely love the way the Caten's used red as accents in these two outfits.

What do you think?

Collection Spotlight: Emporio Armani - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

Firstly, big thanks to all the lovelies who follow my blog and especially those who leave such nice comments. It means so much to me that you guys do because it really helps make me feel like there are actually people out there reading this. Again, thank you!

Anyway, apparently the show's title was "Uptown Girl." Appropriate, no?

I absolutely love the neutral colours, the trousers (what else is new?), the rose detailing, the flowy fabrics, those architectural necklaces, and the shots of pumpkin/orange interspersed throughout. I mean, seriously? The pumpkin/orange shoes in set 4? I want both styles (now, please).

Overall, I feel this collection is a bit beyond my 24 years. But I just loved the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine (a traditional masculine-shaped trouser but in a soft, flowy fabric), the detailing found in almost every piece; and, of course, the shoes and accessories, which are my favourite items to own. Why? Because when your weight fluctuates or you're experiencing some water retention and your clothes don't quite fit right, accessories always will. Accessories (almost) always fit right.

Personally, my Accessory Philosophy is: plain(er) clothes + fab shoes/accessories. Of course, I deviate from this (can't resist a gorgeous print, can I?). But for the most part, I leave the flash to the smaller pieces.

Collection Spotlight: L.A.M.B. - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

If I hadn't known this was a L.A.M.B. collection, I still would've thought it was involved with Gwen Stefani.

First of all, I kind of like that this collection is so all over the place. It's refreshing to think that you can wear a piece from this collection that doesn't look like anything else.

I personally love the use of belts all over the torso, all the pants (from skinny to slouchy to leather... CAN I HAVE IT?!), the outerwear (especially the silver one)...

But my absolute favourite outfit has to be the first photo on the second set. The leather detailing on the dress is so unexpected, at least to me. And I'm in love with the over-the-knee boots!

Hope everyone's having a fabulous Mondays so far!

Collection Spotlight: Vera Wang - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

I have to say that I was a bit surprised with this collection as I don't normally associate "slouchy" with Vera Wang.

That being said, I do adore the fact that everything looks a bit sloppy but put together. Does that even make sense? Sloppy and put together?

The detailing on the dresses are gorgeous, I love the slouchy trousers, the outerwear is absolutely chic, and I am in lust over those necklaces and elbow-length gloves!

If you could choose, which of these outfits would you wear
and
where would you wear it to?

Collection Spotlight: Diane von Furstenberg - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

I've always associated Diane von Furstenberg with femininity and I think you can see why.

Of course, there are no shortage of prints or dresses, as this is what DVF is known for. But I especially love the jackets worn by the models as you see in these photos, especially the one in the last photo of the 4th set.

I love that each piece is a stand out on its own. Whether it's the print of the dress or various embellishments (fluffy shoulder sleeves, anyone?), I'm confident wearing just one of DVF's pieces will result in someone saying, "I love your _______!"

What do you think of the collection?
What's your favourite piece?

Collection Spotlight: Stella McCartney - Fall 2010

(all photos from: coutorture)

Dani Loves: the light, airy, sheer fabrics; the sexy pumps; the narrow trousers...

And can we talk about that all gray ensemble (last set, first photo)? It looks like I can sleep in that!

Gorgeous work, Ms. McCartney. Absolutely gorgeous!

What's your favourite look?

Collection Spotlight: Marc Jacobs - Fall 2010

(all photos from: style.com)

If I could give this collection a title, it would be: Romance in the English Countryside.

Who cares if it's corny? It's pretty accurate, no?

Marc Jacobs said, "it's refreshing to see something that isn't trying so hard to be new." I quite agree with this statement. There's nothing ground breaking about this collection; but in its simplicity, I see comfort. And I think that's what will make women reach for these items.

Yes, it's nice to be a vixen. Yes, it's nice to feel sexy. But sometimes you just want to be feminine without too many accoutrements and that's what you get with Marc Jacobs' Fall line.
